Carleton College, MELLON POST-DOCTORAL TEACHING FELLOWSHIP
|
|
Two-year teaching fellowship
available to begin September, 2004 for candidate with PhD
(received less than five years ago) in Feminist Studies or
Women's and Gender Studies, or a PhD in any field with a graduate
certificate or equivalent teaching experience in Feminist
or Women's and Gender Studies. Appointment involves half-time
teaching (one course in each of three ten-week terms) and
half-time for research and writing. Teaching obligations would
likely include an intro course, a theory course, and a course
in the candidate's specialty area. We are particularly interested
in a candidate who would be able to strengthen our offerings
in global feminism. Stipend plus benefits.
Carleton is a highly
selective liberal arts college with 1850 students located
45 miles south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation.
Additional fellowships

Fellowship awards range
from $5,000 to $12,000. The stipend for engineering dissertation
fellowships only is fixed at $20,000.

Master of Arts in Native American Studies. The University
of Oklahoma is accepting applications for its new MA program
in Native American Studies. The two-year residential program
includes seminars in Native American Studies, History, Anthropology,

4-H Youth Development Regional Extension Educator

The 4-H Youth Development
Regional Extension Educator role is to provide program development
and administrative leadership to the full range of 4-H programs
in the region. The person will have the primary authority
for implementation, financial, and impact accountability of
the 4-H program for the designated counties in this region.
In fulfilling these responsibilities the person will provide
program leadership and supportive management to the designated
county and regional 4-H programs for which he or she has authority.
This responsibility includes leadership for 4-H clubs and
4-H adventure opportunities, including project areas, out
of and after school programs, camps and other community-based
programs offering youth significant opportunities to participate
and lead. This position will work in collaboration with regional
community youth development educators and the Center for 4-H
Youth Development.
This person will use
and increase the application of positive youth development
principles and applied research in his or her work in the
4-H program. He or she will supervise and work closely with
and support county program coordinators, summer interns and/or
volunteer coordinators doing 4-H youth development work.
This person will be
expected to represent Extension through service on local,
regional or state committees or boards supporting youth development
or out-of-school-time work. Examples might include the county
fair board, family service collaborative or joint Extension-agency
project committees. All of these opportunities will be congruent
with assigned area of expertise and specify the role and its
strategic importance to youth development and well-being in
the region. This person will report to a 4-H area program
leader who reports to the Capacity Area Leader for Youth Development.

educators are responsible for several major areas of work,
including program development, delivery and evaluation; attention
to diversity; use of scholarly/scientific research, effective
partnerships, use of technology and continuing professional
development. This REE position will focus on Extension's Community
Economics area of expertise. This primarily includes work
in the following sub-areas:

industry climate - offering educational programs and
services such as business retention and expansion visitation,
community economic analysis and rural health works.

Tourism - offering
educational programs and services that assist the tourism
industry in identifying, assessing and developing tourism

The position will be
located in the new Extension Regional Center in Fergus Falls,
Minnesota and will serve a multi-county area in northwest
Minnesota. Although located in Fergus Falls, the REE will
serve a much greater area defined by the area program leader
and capacity area leader. The REE will report to the area
program leader for community economics and the capacity area
leader for Community Development and Vitality. The REE will
also collaborate with the regional director as appropriate
to fulfill Extension's mission.
