Position Title:

Special Populations Outreach Manager
American Indian and Alaska Native Pops

Responsibilities:

  • Help promote and distribute diabetic eye disease information and other healthy vision materials among target groups.
  • Provide counsel on best ways to adapt and create materials targeting these groups.
  • Serve as direct contact with tribal organizations and others that can serve as the disseminators of this information.
  • Serve as our go-to "expert" on this population

Client:

NEI- National Eye Institute

Must be hands-on, self-starter, require little supervision and have an ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone and in writing.

Be available to travel at least 25% of the time.

Requirements:

Native American Studies Faculty Position

Pending budgetary approval, the Native American Studies Program within the Ethnic Studies Department of the University of California, Berkeley, seeks applicants for a full time position open as to the subfield with NAS and open as to rank. Fluency and/or proficiency in at least one native language of the Americas is desirable. An ability to teach in the department's ethnic studies undergraduate and graduate programs is also desirable. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

There is an enormous need in Indian country for legal expertise on Indian land tenure issues. Many Indian people want access to a resource that will clearly communicate to them important, practical information about their land assets that will empower them in making decisions. ILTF is seeking to increase the amount of this legal expertise by funding a program that will place qualified and highly motivated third-year law students or attorneys interested in Indian land law into Indian communities.

Assistant/Associate Professor, Division of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Educational Administration

The College of Education at Arizona State University is seeking to hire a faculty member appointable at the rank of Associate Professor to advise and teach graduate students in an innovative field-based Program of Educational Administration; direct thesis and dissertation research; advise and mentor students by providing expertise in research.

Required qualifications for the position

  1. an earned doctorate degree in educational administration or related area;
  2. successful experience in university teaching, advising doctoral students, and directing thesis and dissertation research appropriate to rank;
  3. evidence of a record of scholarly productivity appropriate to rank.

Desired qualifications for the position

  1. record of successful collaborative research efforts involving practicing school administrators;
  2. demonstrated knowledge of issues related to urban education and/or experience as a public school administrator;
  3. record of scholarly productivity in areas such as instructional leadership and development, school improvement, and/or school reform; experience in working with diverse school populations;
  4. associate professor qualifications.

November 15, 2003, if not filled every (2) two weeks thereafter until search closes.

POW WOW TO BENEFIT CHARITY ANNOUNCEMENT

Trudeau Center Hosts 13th Annual Indoor POW WOW

November 8th & 9th Native Americans from throughout New England will participate in the 13th annual indoor Powwow from 10am-5pm. There will be 20+ trader tables with authentic merchandise such as jewelry, dreamcatchers, blankets, sweaters, and moccasins to name a few. There will also be a bunny corral, pony rides, face painting, and plenty of BBQ!!

The highlight of each day is the grand entry, when the drum is blessed and the dancers enter the circle as aromatic sage fills the air. Then like a clap of thunder the split feather drummers begin. Slowly and rhythmically dancers enter as the beat begins to quicken. Spectators are encouraged to join in the celebration.

Public invited and admission and parking is FREE!

SEEKING NATIVE ARTISTS

The Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center (CMAC) encourages proposals for projects from performing and visual artists working in traditional or contemporary arts, which explore issues of race, ethnicity or cross-cultural understanding. CMAC is also committed to presenting the work of artists and groups who might otherwise have little or no access to a professionally equipped facility. We also seek and encourage Cambridge-based artists to apply. Our theater and two exhibition galleries are available for dance, theater, music, fine arts exhibitions, film, video and interdisciplinary presentations.

Proposal Requirements: (Any incomplete proposals will not be considered)

  • Statement of purpose: include a brief description of your proposed project's content, what you intend for this project to accomplish, and how it relates to our criteria.
  • Artist or organization resume or bio: include background and experience of artists or groups participating in your project.
  • Example of work: submit slides, photographs, CDs, audio and/or video tapes demonstrating your artistic quality.
  • Return of materials: If you wish your materials to be sent back to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope, large enough to hold all your materials. Materials submitted without a self-addressed stamped envelope will not be returned.

Note: Please make sure your name, address, and phone number is written on all submitted materials, including slides and photographs.

Notification:
Proposals are reviewed every few months. After the review, you will be notified in writing as to whether or not your proposal has been accepted.

Public Education - Senior Director

National Mental Health Association seeks senior director of public education to manage NMHA's public awareness and social marketing programs. Job responsibilities include program and materials development, staff supervision, and affiliate relations and planning of conferences and trainings. Candidates must have experience managing a national public education program, an understanding of community-based education and advocacy, supervisory experience, BA/BS, and at least 7-10 years work experience in mental health, public health or communications. Knowledge of mental health issues preferred. Excellent benefits.
