HEALTH EDUCATOR (1.0 position)
This full-time exempt position exists to support the Diabetes Education Program through the ongoing development and implementation of diabetes education within Indian Health Board’s Clinics and in the community. The person in this position will act as a health educator, community outreach specialist, and a vital participant in all diabetes team activities. This position is located in Minneapolis, MN.

Duties:

  1. Provide individual, group and community education and outreach for people with diabetes.
  2. Assist in designing and/or implementation of diabetes initial needs assessment, diabetes self management education, follow-ups, complications prevention education curriculum, community screenings and other related program projects.
  3. Provide health education and outreach in the surrounding community (Twin Cities).
  4. Collaborate with other agencies and community resources and represent IHB at meetings and with other organizations as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a Registered Dietitian licensed in the State of Minnesota
  2. Minimum of two years experience providing health education to clients/participants.
  3. Excellent verbal, written, presentation and computer skills required.

Salary: $36K-$40K depending on qualifications/experience

The National Congress of American Indians has an opening for a full-time Director of Intergovernmental Affairs position in our Washington, DC office. Under the direction of the NCAI Executive Director, the primary duties of the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs are legislative and administrative advocacy on matters of federal Indian policy, including:

  • Policy analysis and drafting, such as development of proposed policy language, congressional testimony, issue papers, policy position papers, and fact sheets;
  • Legislative and administrative policy monitoring;
  • Making recommendations to the Executive Director about emerging policy issues that the organization may want to consider as part of its public policy agenda;

The National Congress of American Indians has an opening for a full-time Information Management Specialist in our Washington, D.C. office. Under the direction of the Executive Director and Director of Policy and Programs, responsibilities include:

  • Work with the organization staff to understand existing processes and information usage practices;
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficient use and reuse of information to support decision making for the organization;
  • Work with the NCAI team to define and design information management systems that can support the NCAI strategic plan and programs and operations in a more efficient and effective manner;

The newly formed Program in Translational Research in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is seeking two rheumatologist investigators to establish vigorous independent programs in clinical research.

One recruitment is for a physician-scientist (Adult Rheumatologist) who would develop a translational research program in adult rheumatic disease. This program would combine natural history or treatment studies with basic investigations into the etiology and/or pathophysiology of disease. Potential areas of concentration would include rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, vasculitis, scleroderma, osteoarthritis, myositis, or other inflammatory/rheumatic diseases affecting adults.

The second recruitment is for a physician-investigator (Clinical Trialist) who would develop a program to study novel interventions, pharmacologic or otherwise, for rheumatic diseases in adults, children, or both. Potential areas of interest include any of a broad range of rheumatic/inflammatory diseases affecting adults and/or children. The successful candidate would not be expected also to initiate a program in laboratory research.

Oncology Research Positions, Center for Cancer Research, NCI
The Center for Cancer Research (CCR) of the National Cancer Institute is seeking scientists and physicians, for tenure-track or tenure eligible investigator positions. The successful candidate(s) will develop and/or execute translational and/or basic oncology research. This is an exciting opportunity to build an internationally recognized program that will be a cornerstone of CCR's revitalized medical oncology program. The candidate(s) selected will join a team of medical oncology researchers to conduct independent research in an environment that is highly collaborative, and supportive of early drug development, immunotherapy and translational research. The CCR's robust clinical infrastructure and wide range of core technologies and research resources, including clinical and research support staff, will be available to support the efforts of the successful candidate(s).

Staff Scientist, Neuro-Oncology Branch, NCI
The Neuro-Oncology Branch, a trans-institute program of the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the National Institutes of Health, is recruiting a Staff Scientist to work in the area of cancer genomics and bioinformatics. The successful candidate should have a M.D. or Ph.D. degree and at least 3 years of post-doctoral training in molecular genetics and informatics. The position includes the scientific leadership and management of a team of molecular biologists and bioinformaticians involved in the generation and scientific exploration of a large primary brain tumor and cancer tumor stem cell genomics and gene expression data repository and the translation of those discoveries to patients through the highly integrated clinical brain tumor research program of the Neuro-Oncology Branch. Experience in advanced cDNA microarray, Affymetrix-based expression array and SNP array analysis would be highly desirable.

Chief, Visuomotor Disorders Section, Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research, NEI
The National Eye Institute (NEI) seeks an outstanding clinician scientist for a tenured or tenure-track position as Chief, Visuomotor Disorders Section in the Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research (LSR) in the Division of Intramural Research. This recruitment is directed towards clinicians with expertise in central disorders that affect vision and/or eye movements (including disorders of binocular function). The post offers a unique opportunity for a talented individual to provide strong and stimulating leadership in an organization dedicated to uncovering new scientific knowledge, both laboratory and clinical. The Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research is devoted to understanding the organization of the brain related to the control of eye movements, visual perception and their disorders. The Visuomotor Disorders Section Chief is expected to create a vigorous research program dedicated to elucidating the role played by these brain mechanisms in human disease, and to explore treatments. The Chief will develop broad investigational plans, independently and in collaboration with other NEI investigators and research scientists in the United States and abroad. The Chief will examine and treat patients, as well as design, implement and conduct research and clinical protocols. An opportunity exists for the Section Chief to recruit staff and supervise training. The NEI provides an exceptional environment for clinical research including the infrastructure necessary for patient recruitment, a clinical protocol development group, and a Contract Research Organization that provides statistical and epidemiological expertise, data management and analysis, study monitoring, regulatory guidance, and overall operational support.

Molecular Biologist, Thoracic Oncology Section, National Cancer Institute
The Thoracic Oncology Section, Surgery Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health seeks to recruit for immediate appointment an outstanding Molecular Biologist to extend ongoing studies pertaining to epigenetic and microRNA- mediated regulation of gene expression in thoracic malignancies. The successful candidate must have at least 3 years post-doctoral experience, and documented productivity and expertise in cancer epigenetics, including EMSA, DNA methylation arrays, MSP, bisulfite and pyro-sequencing and ChIP. Candidates with documented experience and productivity regarding analysis of micro-RNA expression in cancer cells are of particular interest. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to fundamental pre-clinical studies pertaining to the effects of tobacco smoke on the epigenome, as well as translational research regarding the use of DNA demethylating agents and HDAC inhibitors in lung cancer patients. Title: Family Services Program Manager

Summary: Manage child and family programs for at risk children and their families. Maintain programs within overall agency policies with primary concern for the welfare of the children and families served. Provide liaison between agency and other community programs, especially collaborating agencies. Assist Vice President of Programs in program development, regulation, evaluation and utilization. Supervise Family Service Specialists and Family Group Decision Making Program Coordinator. Develop and maintain program budgets.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in social work or a related field. Social Work License preferred. Minimum of three years supervisory and/or other management experience necessary. Early childhood experience preferred. Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills.
