The American Indian Graduate Center is a non-profit organization that administers scholarships and fellowships nationally to American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing post secondary education. AIGC Scholars is one of four partner organizations administering the Gates Millennium Scholarship. AIGCS is seeking candidates for the position of Financial Aid Coordinator.

Responsibilities: The Financial Aid Coordinator will provide financial aid advisement, assist in the distribution of scholarship awards, prepare, collect, and process program documents. Duties also include, but are not limited to, tracking information and follow-up to complete financial aid requirements such as verification, reviewing files and performing needs analysis to determine eligibility, and package scholarship awards in accordance with program guidelines.

Requirements: Bachelors degree required, in related field with at least 5 years direct office experience in financial aid, counseling, advisement, admissions, student services or related area in a college or university setting. Strong public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, customer service and records management skills. Interest in working with diverse populations, travel required.

Tufts University's American Studies Program is looking for a part time Lecturer to teach one, possibly two, courses in Native American Studies in AY 09-10. One course should focus on contemporary Native American communities, preferably but not necessarily in the Northeast, and political, social, economic, environmental and cultural issues, representations, etc. A second course should be designed around the lecturer's research interests and appropriate for a seminar of juniors and seniors. College-level teaching experience strongly preferred.

Earned doctorate or advanced standing in doctoral program in relevant field required.

The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), an independent, nonprofit public interest organization located in Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking an inspired Executive Director to oversee, manage and grow the organization. CMD's primary mission is promoting transparency and an informed debate by exposing corporate spin and government propaganda, and by engaging the public in collaborative, accurate and fair online reporting.

The Executive Director will continue the work of CMD's committed and entrepreneurial founder, John Stauber. Her/his most important attribute will be the ability to grow CMD by increasing foundation grants and individual donations. The Media and Democracy Coalition (MDC) is hiring a full-time Program and Outreach Manager to oversee the organization’s membership recruitment and outreach, communications, as well as to support the organization’s policy work on media and telecommunications issues.

MDC is collaboration of more than three-dozen organizations united to amplify the voice of the public in debates over media and telecommunications
issues. We bring together leaders in the media policy and organizing fields to work together, develop and share resources, make strategic planning and investment decisions, and expand the number and type of organizations that work for public interest media policies.

Requirements:
Applicants must have some knowledge of media and communications policies, and an understanding of the media advocacy field is a strong benefit.
Outstanding communications skills, experience with research and writing, and strong project management skills are required, as is a demonstrated
commitment to public interest work. Basic technical knowledge of web site development and on-line communications is a plus, but training can be
provided in this area.

The Youth Camp Program gave birth to Indian Youth of America (IYA) and remains the heartbeat of our organization. Each summer Indian youth (age 10-14), staff and special guests come together to participate in Indian Youth of America’s summer camps in Arizona and South Dakota. The young Indian campers experience a variety of cultural, educational and recreational activities under the guidance of Indian counselors and staff. The campers also learn from special guests who come to camp to share their songs, dances, stories and cultural traditions.

The University of Oregon Ethnic Studies Department is establishing a pool of applicants for short-term teaching appointments in the following fields: African American, Arab American, Asian/Pacific American, Chicana/Chicano, Latina/Latino, Native American, and comparative ethnic studies.

Positions may be part-time, temporary, limited duration appointments not to exceed one year however, these positions are renewable for up to three years. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and pool will remain active one year or until all available positions have been filled. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled. The first screening will begin after March 31st. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred but candidates with a Master’s degree or who have advanced to candidacy in a Ph.D. program will also be considered.
