Title: Regional Extension Educator, Crops (Three Full-time Positions Available)
Capacity/Program Area: Agriculture, Food and Environment (AFE)
Deadline: April 22, 2004
Location: Extension Regional Centers in Albert Lea, Hutchinson and Worthington, Minnesota
Interview Dates: May 25-27, St. Paul Campus

The REE-Crops will bring in-depth expertise to cutting-edge crop issues by applying his or her expertise to AFE programs and priorities. The REE will employ multiple delivery systems to educate producers and other agricultural professionals via seminars, workshops or non-credit courses. He or she will collaborate with University faculty and others on applied research. The REE is responsible for program development and delivery, attention to diversity, use of scholarly/scientific research, effective partnerships, use of technology and continuing professional development.

This position is accountable to the Area Program Leader in Crops for program direction, performance evaluation and personnel actions in her/his supervisory role

Southeast Minnesota Sustainable Development Partnership
"Experiment in Rural Cooperation"

Location: Extension Regional Center, Rochester, Minn. or vicinity

The Executive Director supports the Experiment in Rural Cooperation Board of Directors and its research, education, and outreach projects. The Executive Director must have an understanding of university-based research, education, and outreach processes; a basic knowledge of agriculture, natural resources, tourism and/or sustainable development; an ability to lead a process of shared decision-making between local citizens and University faculty; and community engagement skills that build partnerships. This person must also have managerial skills to oversee several projects at one time. The Director must be a catalyst and team builder who supports the University's community engagement mission. The primary geographic area served includes Goodhue, Wabasha, Winona, Houston, Fillmore, Olmsted, Mower and Dodge Counties. This position requires travel to communities and evening work.

5TH ANNUAL OGLALA COMMEMORATION

OGLALA SD - The 5th Commemorative Event is scheduled for June 26, 2004 (Sat) at the in Oglala SD on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. (Known as the Oglala Lakota Nation.)

The Lakota Student Alliance and Kansas City AIM Support Group jointly sponsor the annual event to honor and
remember the lives lost during the 1970s Civil War on the Reservation and to also raise awareness toward the unjust imprisonment of AIM member Leonard Peltier whose incarceration resulted from a Shootout incident between AIM members and Federal police agents at Oglala 29 years ago. It is also an event which promotes reconciliation and healing for the 1970s events with emphasis on alternatives or restorative justice.

Activities begin with a Spiritual Ceremony conducted at the Gravesites of Joe Stuntz, Anna Mae Aquash, and Jun Little; A memorial walk ends at the Jumping Bull Property; a Community Dinner and a Concert commences at the Loneman School in Oglala.

Musical Guests includes a solo Performace by Red Thunder's Robby Romero, Anishnabe Artist Wayquay; Lakota Rockers Steel River Band; Folk Singer Jim Page; Oglala Hiphopper Storm; Spyderzback of Pine Ridge , Pine Ridge hiphoppers Native Era , and Dale Alan.
