American Indian Studies Research Institute
In 1985 the American Indian Studies Research Institute (AISRI) was founded at Indiana University to serve as an interdisciplinary research center for projects focusing on the native peoples of the Americas. AISRI was founded in part on the premise that language, culture, and history are inextricably interrelated, and that to fully understand and describe the language, culture, or history of a people, a study of one of these topics must be informed by work in the others.

The Americanindiansource.com site seeks to promote the sharing of the past, present and future tribal life. Our goals are to increase the awareness and perceptions of the total community to the evolving tribal environment. The primary guiding goal before us is RESPECT. Also these presentations seek to appreciate what have are our traditions, lifestyles, songs, stories and works of art. This respect encompasses the traditions of yesterday, the reality of modern tribal life and the promise of Native American tomorrow.

Bibliography of North American Indians
Do you remember reading or hearing phrases such as: "Sit cross-legged like Indians," "single file, Indian style," "playing cowboys and Indians," "like a bunch of wild Indians," and "don't be an Indian giver" when you were a child? How about learning to count by enumerating "Ten Little Indians" and learning to read by reciting "I is for Indian" or "E is for Eskimo?" These examples, personally observed by this Choctaw mother, teacher, and student, as well as by most of America's schoolchildren, are still used in schools today. They set the stage for a lifetime of misinformation and cultural bias about American Indians, objectifying them in a way that undoubtedly would not be tolerated or accepted by any other ethnic group.

Canada and the United States have many major geographic features in common. They share the Rocky Mountains, the Interior Plains, four of the Great Lakes, the Appalachian Highlands, and many rivers. Techniques for Evaluating American Indian Web Sites
American Indian peoples live in the real world, and Web sites by and about Indian peoples live on the Web. Just as Indians are sometimes treated fairly in the real world, the Web contains sites that show Indians in respectful ways with accurate information, quality products to sell, and as whole human beings with real lives. Just as Indian peoples are sometimes treated wrongly in the real world, the Web also contains sites that use inaccurate and damaging "information", and portray Native peoples as either less or more than human, or as products to be exploited and sold in some fashion (especially Native spirituality)
