Job Description:
Participates as a counselor in a substance abuse program designed for
the prevention of substance abuse and the treatment of rehabilitation
patients and mental health clients with substance abuse problems. Conducts
intake interviews with consumers with co-occurring mental health and substance
abuse issues to obtain personal and family data, including a study of
the individual or family based on medical, psychological, social and environmental
needs. Counsels patients/clients to prevent relapses by assisting them
in recognizing casual factors of substance abuse and in developing appropriate
coping behavior as it relates to the clients mental health recovery. Maintains
a close system of follow-up for previously discharged persons by means
of personal visits, telephone and other means of communication and completes
records on follow-up activities.
Participates in education activities in both formal academic settings
and in treatment or rehabilitation centers to improve knowledge or co-occurring
mental health and substance abuse and related areas. Develops and promotes
interest in the integrated mental health-substance abuse field by speaking
before community groups or coordinating speakers or resource persons.
Monitors and documents progress in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse
as it relates to clients overall mental healthy recovery and provides
patient/client with guidance and assistance regarding community agency
or clinic operations.
Requirements:
- One years experience in a substance abuse program serving clients
with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues, with experience
providing physical assessments of patients, counseling of individuals,
families and groups, and documentation.
- Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to utilize an alternative
method of transportation when needed

Job Description:
This Extension Educator position is for 50% time and will primarily focus
on providing support for EFANS (Extension Food, Agriculture and Natural
Resource Sciences) programs that are relevant to the local community.
This support will involve local program development, delivery, marketing,
evaluation, coordination of logistics and possibly participation in scholarly
research. This position will also be responsible for determining local
needs involving EFANS programming and will provide technical assistance
and information in the area of crops, livestock, agricultural business
management, and horticulture, as well as, oversight of the Master Gardener

discipline areas of agricultural production, as well as, knowledge of

Requirements:
- Minimum level required is a bachelors degree in an agricultural
field. A degree in crop or livestock production systems or business
management is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as an Extension professional, agribusiness
professional or other educationally related position in agriculture
productions systems is preferred. Experience with crop or livestock
production is preferred. Experience as a volunteer or in managing volunteers
is desirable.
- Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication and ability

The Ethnic Studies Department at the University of California, San Diego

Job Description:
The University of Montana Native American Research Laboratory (UM NARL)
was established in 2007. The primary mission of NARL is to provide advanced
hands-on research opportunities to Native American students
in a highly interdisciplinary and inter-tribally as well as inter-culturally
diverse training environment, guided by culturally relevant faculty role
models and mentors. Although UM NARL is dedicated to serving Native American
students, the participation of non-Native and international students is
also a priority to facilitate intercultural exchange. Broadly, the mission
of the NARL laboratory includes serving as a training facility to provide
research-training opportunities for all students in STEM disciplines,
through collaborative interactions with UM faculty and programs within
and outside of the university. Currently, UM NARL is equipped as a microbiology,
molecular biology, and biochemistry research facility with several active,
federally funded projects that provide a broad spectrum of research opportunities
for student researchers with diverse interests.
The UM NARL Director will also have a key support role in the Universitys
Alfred P. Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership (SIGP) program. The UM
SIGP provides scholarships for indigenous students pursuing advanced degrees
in the STEM. Within the SIGP program, the NARL director will focus on
recruitment and retention, as well as serve on the programs steering
committee. Position is expected to establish vigorous funded research
program and coordinate the administration activities of the NARL program.

Fort Lewis College seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach
in the Department of Native American and Indigenous Studies. Applicants
whose scholarship links with global Indigenous (First Nations, Pacific
Islander, Aboriginal) media studies, economics, or contemporary political/social

Teaching load is twelve credit hours per term. Teaching assignment may
include the Colleges liberal arts core. This position is entry-level

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Native American/American Indian Studies, First Nations, Indigenous
or Ethnic Studies preferred; candidates with PhD or terminal degree
in another field but with strong specialization in NAIS will also be

Job Description:
- Residential Hall Director will work closely with the AIP Associate
Director and Director in developing and implementing components of the
American Indian Program with regard to student recruitment and development,
academic programs, outreach initiatives, and in developing year-round
programming in Akwe:kon that fully uses its resources and builds and
enhances the AIP as a whole.
- RHD will work with Campus Life/Community Development staff to develop
services and programs, select and train student staff, and contribute
to university-wide activities as appropriate through participation on
committees, etc.
- May act as an advisor to a registered Cornell University student organization.
- Carry out administrative, counseling, and programmatic responsibilities
for the 35-student residential unit and the American Indian community
at Cornell;
- Facilitate student involvement & supervise student staff;
- Administer and implement services and activities, and enhance community
and individual development among residents;
- Work to involve faculty in the lives of students, provide personal
counseling and work with campus units to provide a safe and attractive
learning environment for students in the house.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, with 1-2 years experience or equivalent
combination, and coursework in American Indian studies.
- Substantial professional experience working with students in higher
education in residential, counseling, and administrative functions.
- Direct experience with and knowledge of Native American students,
communities, and issues is essential, along with the ability for meaningful
and appropriate interaction with people from a wide range of ethnic,
social, and cultural backgrounds.
- Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to work some
nights and weekends and reside at the community Akwe:kon house.
- Experience with events planning and development of programs. Must
exercise sound judgment and respect highly confidential information.
