Seventh Generation Leading: Making the Case for Native Youth Leadership and Organizing
by ICTMN Staff

Information from Honor the Earth’s latest research—We Are the Seventh Generation: An Assessment of the Needs and Potential of Native Youth Organizing—will be presented at a May 4 event in New York City.

“Native Youth are building awareness, capacity and a real infrastructure for self-determination in our communities,” reads the research. “This work, if allowed to become rooted and prosper, will provide the essential elements for restoring and creating healthy Native communities.”

Presenters include Carly Hare, the executive director at Native Americans in Philanthropy, Nat Williams, with the Hill-Snowdon Foundation, and Ray Yazzie, from the Native Youth Leadership Alliance.

Speakers will give an overview of the Native youth leadership and organizing landscape, as well as discussing what Native youth are doing to reshape their communities.

The event is scheduled for 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Philanthropy New York, 79 Fifth Ave., fourth floor. Registration is due by May 2, but there is no fee.
