The Executive Director is the highest ranking CTUIR employee charged with the management of CTUIR governmental operations and community service enterprises (excluding Wildhorse Resort and Casino) as directed by the CTUIR governing body, the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the operational, fiscal, personnel and legal systems of the CTUIR and to ensure efficient delivery of governmental services and community service enterprises. The Executive Director has the authority and responsibility to implement the legislative actions and annual budgets as approved and directed by the Board. The CTUIR government and community service enterprises employ approximately 500 persons with an annual budget of approximately $110 million.

Rosie’s Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women in Boston, is looking for a Teacher Coordinator for its new Women’s Education Center.

Objective: To develop and support all teacher related activities in the Women’s Education Center

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Supervise all teachers and tutors, including trainings, placement, observation, evaluation and support. Ensure teacher compliance with all required reports and documents. Substitute teach as required.
  • Work closely with Volunteer Services to recruit teachers and tutors.
  • Develop best practices. Oversee curriculum creation and revision. Oversee assessment tool development and revision. Analyze data from assessments, midterms pre- and post-tests to accomplish these responsibilities. Organize on-going program and staff development activities.
  • Network with community allies within the Adult Education community.
  • Assist with quarterly reports and other related program documents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by WEC Director.
  • Report directly to WEC Director.

Qualifications:

  • TESOL certification and second language proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience teaching adults.
  • Experience supervising volunteers and/or Adult Education teachers.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and sensitivity to the issues that affect poor and homeless women.
  • Strong writing skills and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Highly organized, self motivated, patient, flexible, sense of humor.

The Director will coordinate, develop and implement programs, practices and initiatives that will enhance the presence and success of American Indian students at the University of Utah. A major focus of this position will be to work with the Tribes and Nations in the state of Utah.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Equity & Diversity, housed in Academic Affairs, the Director is expected to help guide the development and implementation of a campus-wide plan for enhancing the success of American Indian students.

The main responsibilities of the Director include (but are not limited to):

  • Enriching American Indian students’ educational experience by enhancing their academic and personal success at the University. This includes creating academic support, cultural, career development, preparation of reports, development of publications, and proposal writing for external funding.
  • Serving as an academic advisor and mentor to American Indian students, particularly those sponsored students and other first-year Diversity Scholars.
  • Providing advice and counsel for students and student groups and enlist assistance of academic and student affairs offices to assist in the academic and personal success of students.
  • Creating opportunities for students to become leaders on the campus and in the community.

Job Qualifications

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of training and minimum three years relevant experience (preference for five or more years) in fundraising and direct solicitation and capital campaign environment.
  • Applicants should have demonstrated success and experience in major gifts fund-raising strategies for cultivation and direct solicitation, as well as demonstrated knowledge of development systems commonly used at comparable non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, thoughtfulness and diplomacy to build amiable, effective working relationships with board members, volunteers, donors and staff is also critical.

The Harvard University François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) Center for Health and Human Rights seeks a scholarly and enterprising academic who is interested in expanding the reach and role of one of the world’s leading journals on health and human rights. The primary role of the Editor of Health and Human Rights: An International Journal is to serve as a thought leader who ensures the scholarly rigor and readability of the journal’s content, develops new authors, and increases diversity of readers.

The Editor shall serve in a pro bono capacity under the overall guidance of the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor is primarily responsible for decisions about the content of materials submitted to the journal. A major part of this responsibility is to increase the number of high-quality manuscript submissions. The Editor shall also participate in setting all policies and strategic direction of the Journal.

Specific responsibilities and duties (include but are not limited to):
The Editor will dedicate an average of 10–15 hours per week to the following tasks of the journal:

  • Solicit high-quality manuscripts appropriate for upcoming issues from experts in relevant fields
  • Communicate with identified potential authors as they prepare manuscripts for formal submission and/or delegate such communication to the Managing Editor or other members of the editorial team
  • Collaborate on a weekly basis with the Managing Editor to evaluate submitted manuscripts, advise on peer reviewers, and make publication decisions, taking account of the results of the peer review process and the mission and standards of the journal
  • Participate in periodic dialogue regarding: the overall editorial direction of the journal; the definition and sequencing of HHR theme issues; the internal structure of individual journal issues; and HHR’s organizational model and business plan, deferring to the FXB Center Director of Administration on all matters pertaining to the journal budget
  • Consult with the Managing Editor on production (including copyediting, layout, and website design/process) details as needed

The Managing Director, Resource Centers provides senior strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of a range of programming designed to support student identity development. The Managing Director will provide campus wide leadership on issues of diversity and inclusion in student life. The position is responsible for setting Resource Center and student advocacy priorities and allocating resources for programs and services in accordance with the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and the academic mission of the University.

The University of Minnesota Extension is a major outreach arm of the University of Minnesota. As one of four centers, the Extension Center for Community Vitality makes a difference by engaging Minnesotans to strengthen the social, civic, economic and technological capacity of their communities through the faculty and staff in its two program areas: Leadership and Civic Engagement (LCE) and Community Economics (CE). The center is led by the Associate Dean for Community Vitality and Public Engagement. LCE helps communities strengthen social capital, make informed decisions, encourage and develop local leadership and create productive public forums. CE helps communities retain and expand local business, know and grow the retail sector, make informed public finance decisions and develop successful tourism opportunities.

This position will achieve goals through coordination of activities, coaching and tracking of community activities, and integrating project learning into the Center for Community Vitality’s education and outreach. The position will also succeed by understanding the full scope of resources in Minnesota that are available to provide technical assistance to business communities after the grant period is over. Grant reporting and accountability is key to success.

The overall goal is to engage each participating community, through local steering committees, in planning that will help them envision a stronger business community through the adoption of broadband technology options. Their plans will include a strategy to have technical assistance available to businesses that are not using high-speed technology opportunities. Each community will receive community economics program offerings from an Extension Educator to enrich their thinking through educational programming and applied research.

This position has increased responsibility for working with Regional Directors and county extension committees to assure adequate resources for the 4-H program and aligning 4-H programming in the area to the resources available.
