The Department of Education is searching to fill one Ed.D. position. This
position is listed as requisition #165455 for the Tenured Professor for
Ed.D. This position is also listed as requisition #164865 for the Tenure
Track Associate Professor for Ed.D.
Required qualifications include: Teaching and research expertise must be
demonstrated in the following areas: special education, teaching and learning,
curriculum and instruction, or a related field; doctorate in education or
related field such as teacher education, higher education, special education;
evidence of successful experience in teaching and advising at the graduate
level; an active research agenda; a record of publication in scholarly journals
appropriate for appointment rank. Responsibilities include teaching with
an emphasis on special education and research and advising in an Ed.D. program
in Teaching and Learning. Responsibilities also include research, scholarly
writing, service and outreach.
Full time position to begin Spring Semester, 2011 (January 13, 2011) or
Fall Semester, 2011 (August 29, 2011). |

Title: Adult Basic Education (ABE) Teacher Position, Jamaica Plain
Community Centers (Boston, MA)
The Adult Learning Program (ALP) of Jamaica Plain Community Centers is
looking for an experienced ABE educator for the following position. Join
our strong team of Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers
of Other Languages (ESOL) professionals we have been serving the
community for over 30 years, providing a well-structured environment for
learning, personal, academic, and professional growth.
P/T ABE Instructor position available:
The class is an intermediate ASE/Pre-GED class, consisting of native and
non-native English speakers, which prepares adult learners for advanced
ASE/GED level classes, using the innovative STAR reading curriculum, along
with writing and math instruction.
The evening position pays $18.27/hr., inc. holidays and sick time (no
health ins. or paid vac.). Must be available Tues, Wed., Thurs 5:00 pm
9:00 pm.
Duties Include:
- Instruct adult learners in reading, writing, and math within a learner-centered,
achievement-oriented program curriculum.
- Design and implement ABE curricula, assessment and instructional materials.
- Work with ALP Director and teaching staff on planning and implementation
of ABE program design and activities.
- Participate in ALP events, including coordination of some events,
and work with other JPCC staff on projects of common concern.
- Participate in ongoing program and staff development activities.
- Provide a learning environment where students develop the tools they
need to achieve their career, educational and personal goals.

The International Institute of Boston's (IIB) Workforce Development Department
has openings for part-time ESOL and ESOL Literacy instructors. IIB is
a leading multi-cultural provider of comprehensive professional and cultural
services that aim to foster the success of immigrants and refugees in
the United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing ESOL instruction to students enrolled in evening
classes. Planning a complete course of instruction appropriate to the
assigned class level according to curriculum guidelines; preparing all
classroom materials. Contributing to program planning and curriculum development;
reviewing and adapting new material. As needed, coordinating course of
instruction with team teachers, if appropriate. Evaluating student progress
and making placement recommendations accordingly, on an ongoing basis.
Writing individual student progress reports. Referring student problems/needs
to ESOL Program Manager as appropriate. Maintaining records and reports,
as required. Attending regularly scheduled program meetings and periodic
training sessions. DOE requires 12 hours of professional development per
year. Contribute to overall Workforce Development Department operations,
performing other program planning and various related duties as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in related field required, related MA
preferred. At least one year of adult ESOL teaching experience preferably
with immigrant populations; experience with non-literate learners is helpful.
