Canku Ota - September 1, 2009 - Another Beautiful Morning

The white tears gentle fall upon a soft voice.
A raven caws and dives to retrieve a stiff and silent shell of a field mouse.
Circling above is the familiar silhouette of an angel come to carry my prayers for Mother and her children.
Wings stretched wide and feathers rustling softly
Whites, browns, and reds mottled together in one so special brings a warmth to my heart
She circles tighter and faster, then speeds East to greet the new day
The people's hope go with her

Some say Creator no longer smiles upon our people.
Cruelty has been given in return for the Old Ones good deeds.
Yet even in hard times our old ways bring us pure heart and happiness.
We are our hearts
Those who say we have been forgotten are but a facade ready to crack in the hard times a head.
Shallow - they are but what they possess and wear.
Soon these things will be stripped away - they will be lost
For they know not who they are - self defined by material conquests
The oyate (people) will be unchanged
They are spirit - not material
It remains the same - the essence of Creator.
