The U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution (U.S. Institute)
is a program of the Morris K. Udall Foundation, a federal agency dedicated
to honoring the legacy of the late Congressman Udall in consensus-building,
environmental policy and Native American affairs. The U.S. Institute was
created by Congress as an impartial, non-partisan service organization
to assist in resolving environmental, natural resources, and public lands
conflicts involving the federal government.
The U.S. Institute seeks an individual with knowledge, expertise, and
life experience with Native American, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian
cultures and governments as well as experience with collaborative decision
making, consensus-building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
The successful candidate will join a current Tucson-based team of about
24 people. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior
Program Manager for the Native American and Alaska Native Program. Initially,
the successful candidates primary responsibility will be to manage
(in coordination with the Senior Program Manager) and continue the implementation
of the Native Dispute Resolution Network and Skills Exchange Workshop,
and to conduct Program related outreach to Tribes, Federal Agencies, States
and other stakeholders. Depending on performance and expertise, it is
expected that the successful candidate will ultimately take on additional
responsibilities by managing environmental conflict resolution (ECR) projects
where contracted neutrals are the primary service providers.

The Division of Intramural Research Programs (DIRP), National Institute
of Mental Health (NIMH), invites applications for a Tenure Track Investigator
in the field of psychiatric neurobiology, to work in the Genes, Cognition
and Psychosis Program (GCAP) under the direction of Dr. Daniel Weinberger,
Program Director. The candidate is expected to have experience in biological
studies of mental illness and to develop an independent research program
in translational neuroscience research focused on understanding the molecular
mechanisms of genetic risk factors associated with schizophrenia. The

Beginning in June, five members of the Tohono Oodham Nation will
embark on a 3000 mile walking journey to promote indigenous solutions
to the health crisis effecting Native American communities. Starting
in the Native communities on the coast of Maine, the group will Walk
Home to the Tohono Oodham Nation in Southern Arizona. Along the
way, they will visit dozens of Native communities, promoting traditional
Native foods and fitness as an essential tool for creating community
wellness. The Walk Home is seeking committed individuals to work in
support of the walk.

The Development Officer is responsible for prospecting, developing,

Position Title: Native Workforce Program Director
Agency: Denver Indian Center

Salary: The salary depends on experience, with a range of $40,000-$50,000
Hours: This is a full-time exempt position with a 40 hour, or more, work

General Responsibilities:
The Native Workforce Program (NWP) Director maintains all Department of
Labor (DOL) reporting and works closely with the Executive Director regarding
all activities and events in the NWP. The director will direct and supervise
the NWP in accordance with Workforce Investment Act (WIA) section 166
regulations.
The director sets professional standards for the staff of the department.
The director ensures that the NWP staff understand their job duties and
encourages staff in their professional development to ensure that NWP
clients are receiving quality service. The director provides the controller
and executive director with appropriate documentation to maintain all
direct and indirect services to clients in the NWP. The Director will
have, or will gain, extensive knowledge of the WIA section 166 (Indian
and Native American Programs) to direct and develop the NWP strategically.
The director functions as a member of the management team which requires
on occasion performing duties for other program directors/executive director
during absence. This policy complies with public law 105-220 section 166.
Main Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or implement the two-year Comprehensive Services Plan
(CSP), and future submissions and/or modifications of plans to the U.S.
Department of Labor. Conduct regular reviews of existing financial reports
for the purpose of compliance and program planning.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports for submission to DOL by appropriate
deadlines
- Analyze operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms, performance
standards, work-flow patterns and make recommendations for improvement
or revisions to the executive director
- Research and evaluate labor market information to best direct the
NWP to meet client needs, and ensure job placement in high-pay and high-growth
jobs
- Attend quarterly WIA conferences to gain latest information on policy
and best practices, and to develop important relationships
- Verify all client documentation and eligibility, and oversee the
management information system (case-management, BearTracks II)
- Approve all worksite and training arrangements, including work experience
- Oversee all requests for supportive services to ensure WIA and CSP
accordance
- Manage NWP team, conduct performance reviews of NWP staff, review
timesheets, vacation requests and other management duties prior to executive
director/controller review
- Encourage and find entrepreneurial training and business opportunities
for the community
- Assist in the development of social enterprise to meet the Denver
Indian Centers short and long range goals
- Locating and helping cultivate additional resources for program growth
- Providing updates and reports to the executive director and board
of directors as requested
- Maintaining DICs No Alcohol and Drugs policy

Experience and Education:
The ideal candidate will possess excellent management and communication
skills, written and oral, and have previous experience, or extensive knowledge

Description
- Directs the SMSC Mental and Chemical Health Programs and the SMSC

- Administer the Mental and Chemical Health Programs and develop, market,
and implement educational programs in the areas of dealing with smoking
cessation, stress reduction, and dealing with various forms of trauma
and relapses among those who have used the SMSC EAP.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team and with the SMSC Gaming
Enterprise Divisional Human Resources department on matters of mental
and chemical health and SMSC EAP issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Minnesota license in American Indian Language, History and
Culture
- Demonstrated fluency in the Ojibwe language
- Knowledgeable in the broader cultural context of the Ojibwe language
- 3-5 years of successful high school teaching experience preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach one introductory-level course in the Ojibwe language
- Develop curriculum and assessments for the Ojibwe language course
- Implement district-approved standards for global languages
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs
- Collaborate with building and district staff on an on-going basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
