Library Information Technology Department Director

The University of New Mexico has the following opening: Director, Library Information Technology Department. Full-time, 12 month library faculty position. Salary, professional rank and tenure status are negotiable; appropriate to qualifications and experience. Minimum salary of $70,000. Starting date negotiable with desired start by January 1, 2005.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Masters degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program or international equivalent or terminal degree in related field. A minimum of five years of progressively significant and relevant experience in a major research library, university library or information technology center. Evidence of management experience of a complex information technology department or team. Successfully demonstrate effective written communication skills. A record of research, publications, presentations or service to the profession.

Program Manager - American Indian Studies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: American Indian Studies seeks a Program Manager to perform work of considerable difficulty in coordinating AIS’s involvement with University programs, Indian nations and organizations, and funding agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five years administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Position Announcement

Tribal Disability Technical Assistance Specialist
American Indian Disability Technical Assistance Center (AIDTAC)

Position Description: The purpose of the American Indian Disability Technical Assistance Center is to increase and improve employment opportunities and vocational rehabilitation outcomes of American Indians and Alaska Natives living in both rural and urban areas. This national center accomplishes these goals by providing information, referrals, and technical assistance to involved stakeholders. The concept of the Center is new and it is the first and only program of its kind. This type of setting needs a person who is a dynamic self-starter with initiative and imagination. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to increase the knowledge of a diverse audience through personal communication, networking at conferences, and conducting workshop presentations.

A bachelor's degree in social science or rehabilitation, related to disability issues, with experience working with American Indian governments, Alaska Native governing entities, urban Indian programs and tribal people, or the equivalent in experience and training, is required. The position is located on The University of Montana - Missoula campus. In depth survy of health care issues of American Indians/Alaska Native, including specific genetic, cultural, social, biomedical characteristics, and comparisons with general US and other Tribal populations. Focuses on Indian culture, relation of individual to group, and Indian concepts of health and disease, as well as blending of traditional Indian health with modern Western methods.Instructor: Dr. Susan Cameron
