Summer Program Announcement

Counselors needed for 7th Annual National Native American Youth Initiative
June 19-27, 2004
Washington, DC

The Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) is seeking Native American medical and health professional students to serve as counselors for a Health, Biomedical Research, and Policy Development program for Native American high school students in Washington, DC. The goals of AAIP's National Native American Youth Initiative are to motivate Native American high school students to remain in the academic pipeline and to pursue a career in the health professions and/or biomedical research. Twelve Native American medical and health professional students will be chosen to serve as counselors for this intensive summer program for high school students. Counselors will serve as role models and guides throughout the entire week. Room, travel, and board will be paid, as well as a stipend upon completion of the program. Applications are being accepted now for these positions. An AAIP Primary Data Sheet, letter of reference, photo, and a one page personal statement of why you are qualified/eager to work with the NNAYI students is required.

Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission in Portland, Oregon, is seeking an Assistant Librarian for its StreamNet Library. Responsible for fulfilling reference and interlibrary loan requests and for development of digital library resources plus other duties. Requires Masters degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent combination of education and exp. Requires computer competency including office and library software, internet and web proficiency, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Indian culture and natural resources desirable.

Launching CFORE

The Canadian Forum on Religion and Ecology (CFORE) will be officially launched at the University of Toronto on Sunday March 7, 2004 at 3:00pm. CFOREs mission is to facilitate transformative dialogue and education. Over the next three years CFORE will establish a national Canadian presence with a series of lectures and discussions from coast to coast. Our aim is to bring people together in inter-disciplinary and inter-religious forums to foster a transformative ecological spirit across Canadas colleges and universities. We will also advocate for ecological sustainability in Canada and influence public policy on key issues.

We would be honoured if you would attend the launch ceremony and the inaugural lecture Buddhism, Nature, and the Ecological Self by Professor Kenneth Kraft, one of the worlds foremost authorities on Buddhism and Ecology.
