The
University of Arizona offers the prestigious National Institute
of Health Initiative for Minority Student Development Graduate
Study Awardsto outstanding minority students who are admitted
to one of twelve Ph.D. biomedical programs at the University
of Arizona.
The
program also has a summer research undergraduate component
offering juniors and seniors paid research opportunities,
seminars on minority health disparities and instruction on
how to put together an excellent graduate school application.

Women In International Security (WIIS)

Fifteenth
annual Summer Symposium for Graduate Students in International
Affairs
June 3 - 8, 2004
Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
"Globalization and Security".
This
intensive, six-day program is designed to encourage participants
to pursue careers in the field of international affairs by
introducing them to a professional network of senior women
in the field. Students will have the opportunity to present
papers and discuss their research and ideas with peers and
experts from academia and the media, as well as governmental
and non-governmental organizations. Please encourage your
master's or doctoral students to participate in this unique
program. WIIS covers all costs of room and board; limited
travel fellowships are also available to qualifying applicants.

The
Women's Technology Program at MIT is a 4-week summer residence
program to introduce high school girls to electrical engineering
and computer science. If you know a girl who is currently
a high school junior with demonstrated math and science ability
and an interest in finding out about EECS, please encourage
her to visit our website for more information and for an application
form (applications are due February

Our classes are taught in a supportive environment by a staff
of women MIT PhD candidates and undergraduates. The full-time
academic program includes hands-on experiments and team-based
projects in computer science, electrical engineering, and
mathematics. Our goals are to: increase girls' interest and
confidence in pursuing computer science and engineering and
make them aware of their potential for success in these fields

Pre-College Opportunity

The
Association of American Indian Physician's (AAIP) annual National
Native American Youth Initiative will be held in Washington,
DC, June 19-27, 2004.
ELIGIBILITY
Native American high school students planning to enter the
health professions between the ages of 16 through 18 years
old are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum cumulative
2.0 GPA (A = 4.0).
SELECTION
REQUIREMENTS
One Page Essay expressing plans to enter the health professions
(double spaced)
Current Academic Transcript
Letter of Recommendation from school counselor/teacher
Primary Data Sheet
Photograph
FINANCES
Selected scholars will receive all expenses paid. Each participant
will be provided with room, board and travel during the week
long program. It will be necessary for individuals to bring
extra monies for items (i.e.
souvenirs) they may wish to purchase during their stay. Applications
are also available for download on the AAIP web site at http://www.aaip.com/student/nnayi.html
Only a limited number of students will be accepted, therefore
early application is encouraged.
