NCAI Will Host 2003 Scholarship Pageant in Albuquerque, NM |

Each year, a young lady is selected from a group of candidates to represent NCAI and Indian Nations as a youth role model, educator, and ambassador for the duration of one year. Miss NCAI 2003 is awarded a $5000 scholarship to help meet educational goals.
Pageant coordinator Alyssa Burhans said the winner will be “selected on the basis of her knowledge of tribal government, culture and history. Her concerned interest in conditions affecting the well-being of American Indian and Alaskan Native governments and people, as well as scholastic achievement, communication, presentation, and personality.”
Awards include Miss NCAI 2003, Miss NCAI Runner Up, Best Talent, and Miss Congeniality. To be eligible to compete in the Miss NCAI Pageant, contestants must be 17-25 years of age on or before October 1, 2003; a citizen of an American Indian or Alaska Native tribe or village with proof of enrollment; current high school senior, full-time undergraduate student (12+ credits), or full-time graduate student (9+ credits); and single, never married, and have no children.
Official applications are available on the NCAI website at www.ncai.org or call 612-860-3300 to have an application sent. The deadline for applications is October 29, 2003.
