Scholarships for Navajos

The Navajo Nation will continue funding the Native American Achievement Program at Arizona State University for five years at $491,500 per year, providing scholarships for Navajo freshmen and continuing sophomores.

Thirty-three program participants have graduated. "Getting them through the first year and coming back to ASU for the second year has been the hurdle," says Peterson Zah, adviser to the ASU president on Indian affairs.

A total of 313 Navajo freshmen have participated during the program's first five years. Information: (480) 965-6991.
