ST. PAUL, Minn., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- IndiVisual Learning, LLC, a leading provider of engaging academic intervention programs, in co-sponsorship with Hewlett-Packard, announced today that it will award two $25,000 'Read for Life' scholarships to two deserving public, private, charter or parochial schools throughout the country. Schools must demonstrate financial need, or a high ESL, ELL or LEP population and a staff dedicated to working with technology-based education solutions. Each 'Read for Life' Scholarship includes a wireless mobile lab with five in-class computer based reading workstations and three years of unlimited student use of IndiVisual Reading. IndiVisual Reading is a proven academic reading intervention for students, ages 8-18, developed through the vision of former Minnesota Commissioner of Education Howard Casmey and the instructional methodology of Dr. John Manning, world renowned reading expert and a former president of the International Reading Association. The program has been rigorously tested in schools since its inception in 1998 and has been found to be extremely effective in reaching struggling students and advancing them to read at grade level. In Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, school superintendent Jay Haugen sees IndiVisual Reading as a solution to improving his students' reading across the board. "This is the first program I've had that's for 100% of all the kids. This is the first time I've seen a computer technology that's met the promise of teaching kids." Educators may apply for the 'Read for Life' Scholarships by visiting http://www.indivisuallearning.com. Scholarship applications must be received by September 15, 2002, and recipients will be selected from submitted entries on October 15, 2002.
