5th Annual Native American Music Awards Official List of Nominees
 
   

Nominees for the Fifth Annual Native American Music Awards were announced in a national press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday, June 18th at 1:00PM C.T. At the press conference, Indian Summer Festivals Inc.’s President, Jim Warren, Mary Denis of the Greater Milwaukee Visitors And Convention Bureau, and NAMA’s President/CEO, Ellen Bello, made statements. Special performances were also held by some of this year's new nominees; Jana (Single of the Year), Robert Tree Cody (Best World Music Recording) and Micki Free (Debut Artist/Male Artist/Best Rock-Pop Recording).

Over 140 national recordings were submitted for nomination. Nominees were selected by NAMA's Advisory membership. Winners of the Fifth Annual Native American Music Awards will be determined through membership ballots and a national on-line voting campaign opening to the general public. Music selections from all nominated recordings are also available on the Awards website; www.nammys.com Over 30 categories appear on this year's national voting ballot including a new category for Best Christian/Gospel Recording. This Year's Awards Eligibility Period was April 1, 2001 through March 31, 2002.

The Native American Music Association, Indian Summer Festivals Inc., and the Potawatomi Tribal Community are proud to present the Fifth Annual Native American Music Awards at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 7th, 2002. The Native American Music Awards proudly congratulates all of this year's nominees.
