FEDERAL HIGHER EDUCATION
FUNDING: UND nets $5 million Some UND research and Native American programs will get a $5 million boost thanks to legislation signed into law by President Bush Monday. The interior appropriations bill includes $4.1 million for the school's Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) and another $1.7 million for two Native American scholarship programs at UND. According to North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan, securing the funding didn't come without a fight. "The (Bush) administration left it out of the appropriations bill for reasons that are inexplicable," Dorgan said.
