On January 15, 2000, "Canku Ota" was born. We would like to take this opportunity to share some of the things that have happened since then. This site has had almost 15,000 visitors. In the past three months, our visits have almost doubled! We are very pleased to announce that "Canku Ota" was featured on the "Digital Divide Network" an organization whose goal, of bridging the divide, is to use communications technology to help improve the quality of life of all communities and their citizens: to provide them with the tools, skills and information they need to help them realize their socioeconomic, educational and cultural potential. The Philadelphia Inquirer and Netmom have named "Canku Ota" as one of the year's best sites for kids. We are listed as the number one site under Culture and Society. "Canku Ota" has also been a feature site on "Ask Jeeves for Kids" and "Family Click" by Netmom. Jean Polly, Netmom, has added our site to her 5th edition of The Internet Kids & Family Yellow Pages (http://www.netmom.com/). "Kidlink" and "Canku Ota" worked together to create a joint site that focuses on Indigenous languages. Some of our articles have been translated into German and French. We have been received numerous site awards and recommendations. Many schools have incorporated us as part of their curriculum. Perhaps most important, we have had so much support and encouragement from many people. From the beginning, there were many who believed in us and gave us a chance. You know who you are and we send a sincere and humble thank you to each and every one of you. We also want to thank all of the writers, artists, news sources, and friends who have allowed us to share their works with our readers. Finally, we want to thank you ... our readers and subscribers. Without you, there would be no reason for "Canku Ota" to exist. Paul and I look forward to this new year. We hope to continue with the work we are doing. With your help and support, we plan to see many birthdays for "Canku Ota" Pidamaya Yedo, Paul and Vicki
