Let it Snow

Snow Globe

What You'll Need:

1 baby food jar or other small, wide-mouthed glass jar that's wider than it is tall
White glitter
1 silk or plastic flower of your choice, blossom only
Rubber cement

Directions:

1. Glue the silk flower to the inside of the jar lid with a drop or two of rubber cement. If your parents don't want you to use rubber cement by yourself, ask them to do this for you. Let it dry overnight.

2. Empty about a tablespoon of white glitter into the jar. This will be your snow.

3. Fill the jar about three-fourths of the way with water. Screw the lid on nice and tight, or have a parent do it for you.

4. Hold the jar upside down and shake it to watch the snow go!

Snowflakes in the Window

What You'll Need:

Paper doilies (different sizes)
Scotch tape
Spray-on artificial snow
A window

Directions:

1. Arrange the doilies on the window by sticking them there with loops of tape.

2. Spray the window with artificial snow and let it dry for a bit. Remove the doilies, and you'll see lovely snowflake-like designs.

Snowman Mobile

What You'll Need:

2 Sheets white construction paper
White thread
White glue
Black construction paper
Pencil
Scissors

Directions:

1. Draw three circles on one sheet of white construction paper, one above the other. Make the biggest circle on the bottom, a smaller one above, and the smallest one on top.

2. Place the second sheet of white construction paper under the first, lining up the outside edges of the two sheets. Cut between the circles (you'll end up with three sets of two pieces of paper), holding the papers together while you do.

3. Keeping the sets of paper paired up and lined up, cut out the circles. You'll end up with three sets of two identical circles.

4. Cut a piece of white thread that's about a foot-and-a-half long. Glue the sets of circles back to back with the string sandwiched in between, starting with the largest circles on the bottom, then the medium-sized ones, and then to small ones on top. Leave about an inch between circle sets.

5. Fold the black paper in half, draw a top hat, and cut it out. You'll get two identical top hats. Glue them both to your snowman, one in front and one in back, making sure you line up the edges to make it look neat.

6. Cut out buttons and eyes from the black construction paper. Glue these to the front of your snowman. You can also cut out circles to make a mouth and glue those on. Your mobile is ready to hang! (Get an adult to hang it up for you.)
