United States Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell Lends an Artistic Helping Hand

United States Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) has lent an artistic helping hand to the American Indian College Fund by designing the newest limited edition blanket in the College Fund's Spirit Series. The Cheyenne Eagle Blanket was generously donated by Senator Campbell (Northern Cheyenne) and depicts a Northern Cheyenne tribal legend. The blanket tells the story of an eagle's gift of a stallion to a warrior who rescues him from death. The Cheyenne Eagle blanket is manufactured especially for the College Fund by Pendleton Woolen Mills, the foremost manufacturer of Indian trade blankets in the world. Each signed and numbered blanket measures 66" x 39" and only 1,200 of this unique and beautiful design will ever be produced. The Cheyenne Eagle blanket is available at a cost of $350.00 plus $10.00 for shipping and handling. The American Indian College Fund was launched in 1989 to raise funds from corporations, foundations and individuals for the urgent scholarship and program needs of students at the 31 member tribal colleges. These tribally operated institutions serve more than 26,000 full and part time students, representing 250 native tribes, each year. In addition, the colleges provide desperately needed services and support to their surrounding communities, such as health care centers, libraries, day care facilities, economic development ventures, and cultural preservation projects. These tribal colleges play a vital role in the future of American Indian people and, ultimately, in the future of all people.
