This Year at Mt. Graham
Apaches for Cultural Preservation Announce this Year's Mt. Graham Activities
The Sacred Run, which has become an annual event, will be held on Saturday, August 12th, 2000. This year, Wendsler Nosie and a few of the Spirit of the Mountain Runners will be making the entire journey from San Carlos to Mt. Graham, individually. Each will run the 100 mile journey at the rate of 20 to 30 miles each day, beginning on Wednesday, August 9th, 2000; and will meet up with the Mt. Graham Sacred Runners on saturday, August 12th, on their acscent up Mt. Graham. It will be a test of endurance, strength, and faith, both physically and spiritually.

The 2nd annual Spirit of the Mountain 5K Run is scheduled for Saturday, July 29th at 6:45 a.m. in downtown San Carlos. The Run and walk wil begin and end in front of the Education Building. There will be a $10 cost for pre registration and day of race. No late fees. The cost covers the race or walk and T-shirts. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finishers for both male and female for the 5K run. There will be overall trophies for 1st male and 1st female. First male and female walkers will also receive awards. Categories include: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-25, 26-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 & over. This event is sponsored by the Spirit of the Mountain runners. The proceeds from the
Run will help support the Mt. Graham Sacred Run scheduled for August 12th, 2000.
