UNITY 2000 "Native Awakening 2000"
by Vicki from various sources

UNITY is a national network organization promoting personal development, citizenship and leadership among Native American youth. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, UNITY has served American Indian and Alaska Native youth since 1976. The organization grew out of a need to combat wasted talent and negative peer pressure among Native American youth.

The United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY) will conduct the 26th Annual National UNITY Conference, June 23 - 27, 2000 in Seattle, Washington.

This year's gathering marks the first conference in the new millennium and is expected to attract over 1,200 Native youth from across the country. The conference will begin on Friday, June 23 at noon and adjourn on Tuesday, June 27. The 5-day conference will feature general sessions with keynote speakers, workshops featuring both youth and adult-led presentations, forums designed to address today's youth concerns, daily physical fitness activities, and of course, fun interaction with people from all over the country. The conference is filled with exciting educational experiences designed to promote alcohol and drug prevention, safety issues, education, and other youth-related issues.

Registration for this 5-day conference is $75 until May 31st. After this date, the rate goes to $100 per person. Beat the increase by registering now. Registration forms are enclosed in this packet. Advisors are encouraged to make copies of the registration form in order to give to all participants attending. If you need a registration form faxed to you, or need more information, please call the national UNITY office at (405) 236-2800. Completed registration forms and payment should be mailed to:
