A Fallen Warrior
by Vicki Lockard

Editors Note: I have been blessed with the honor of knowing Kevin, and of being in the circle with him during Veteran's Honor Dances. He is proud to be a Veteran...he, like many Native Americans served willingly, and did what they were asked to do. Now, it is our turn to do what we can for them....Vicki

Last Friday, May 5, Kevin Shores was involved in an accident. Kevin was in his wheelchair, practicing for next weekend's Gulf War Illness Awareness Ride, when he was struck by a dumptruck. Kevin suffered several broken bones and will be having hip replacement surgery on Wednesday, May 10. This of course, means the postponement of his ride.

Additionally, Kevin is in need of a laptop computer. He will be in the hospital for at least a month, and a computer will keep him in touch with those supporters and well wishers that are so important to recovery. It would also allow him to finish this semester of college. If any of you have this resource that could be loaned to Kevin, please get in touch with me.

We at "Canku Ota" wish Kevin the best and offer our prayers for his recovery. Knowing Kevin, this will not stop him, it will just delay his project for a bit.
